National Space Centre Store Revamp

Mynt have completed the design and installation of the new store at Leicester’s visitor attraction, The National Space Centre.

We designed the store concept to offer customers a clear journey and category navigation, within a dynamic, angular and striking interior aesthetic.
We created a new graphics palette and introduced an inviting & playful tone of voice & set of illustrations, which weave throughout the store journey.  Messaging such as ‘Just Landed’ helps to promote the latest range of gifts & products in-store.  The ‘Shop’ logo is simple, welcoming, and nods to the iconic planet, Saturn.

It was important to ensure the store concept was robust but also flexible, as the visitor centre plays host to hundreds of school trips and thousands of visitors on a yearly basis.  Implementing a retail system that can cope with this high level of footfall is essential to the success of this project, whilst also ensuring the flexibility of the concept allows the space to be re-merchandised and updated when required.

Early indications suggest the store is performing well.  Despite on & off access to the centre for 6 months (due to a variety of construction works), spend per head is up 6-7% in the shop, compared to the previous 6 months in the former store concept.  We expect that % to rise throughout the 2nd half of 2018.
