Earlier this month we exhibited at the Retail Design Expo in Olympia, London. We met some great brands and retailers to discuss various retail topics including the future of retail, the use of technology and crafting authentic storytelling moments.
For those of you who didn’t make the show, here’s a roundup of the most pertinent trends & topics…
– Millennials crave experiences. They value experiences more than the actual transaction. Your brand needs to bridge the gap between online / mobile experiences and the in-store experience.
– ‘Future’ does not mean ‘Technology’. Technology can play a vital role in future retail concepts, but it is important to understand the relationship between technology, your brand values, your customers and the long-term shopping journey. Will tech add value? Do you have relevant and enough updatable content to use within technology hardware.
– Sensory experiences will play a more vital role in creating authentic brand expressions and memorable storytelling within the retail environment. These types of experiences will aid emotional engagement and the sense of ‘ownership’ in-store.
